Food Policy

At Sunny-Side Up! we teach kids to respect food and to understand from where it comes. We often talk about who grew the vegetables and we go to the field periodically. We are trying to work on growing some vegetables together as well. Sometimes the children can also participate in gathering eggs or learning how to clean a chicken. Most of the children grow to love vegetables and food more from their experience at Sunny-Side Up!

Snacks & Lunches
•	Daily Snacks
We serve 100% juice and American crackers or chips that do not contain MSG or preservatives.
•	Camp food
Nancy makes extra special homemade food for the camp snacks and over night camps...very yummy!
•	Lunch
Children bring a small lunch from home & we serve organic rice along with organic grass-fed cow milk.
•	Mothers’ Lunches
If possible, please try to bring leftovers. Try to avoid little frozen tidbits made for children’s lunches. No “furikake” or sweets, please. We can refrigerate the lunches or heat them up.
•	Nancy’s Wednesday Lunch
Every Wednesday, Nancy cooks lunch for the kids (for which you pay a very small fee!). She uses homegrown or local vegetables and the best quality meat and freshest fish.
•	Field Trip Lunches
On field trip days, Nancy prepares tuna or egg salad sandwiches using homemade mayonnaise and organic bread. We also bring American potato chips and juice for the picnic.
